oriental nativity scene

On display is a fascinating oriental nativity scene, which covers an area of an approximately 110cm x 70cm. The scenery is rich in detail and tells the biblical story in oriental style.

At the center of the depiction is a ruined stable, which serves as the birthplace of the infant Jesus. A ruin extends over part of the scene, giving it an ancient atmosphere. The main gate acts as an entrance for the three kings, who are on their way to bring their gifts to the newborn baby Jesus.

A striking element is the inn where the innkeeper had turned Mary and Joseph away, which underlines the biblical context of the story. Due to the size of the crib and the handcrafted details, it took around 75 hours to create this work. This shows the meticulous work and dedication to create an authentic and haunting depiction of the Christmas story.

All the figures used are from Heide, Imanuel series from Val Gardena South Tyrol. Made of wood, with a height of 10 cm and covered with fabric.
