FRANCESCO AMATO

A few years ago I discovered my love of crib making and since then I have been passionately dedicated to this fascinating craft. It's more than just a hobby for me - it's a creative passion that I pursue with dedication and enthusiasm.

I put an emphasis to attention to detail. Every tiny element of my nativity scenes is handmade, and i only use authentic natural materials. Collecting these materiales is an important part of the process. It's about finding exactly what is needed for each piece of art. Sometimes I start with an idea and then search specifically for the right materials, while in other cases I collect materials and only then develop my creative vision.

My pursuit of realistic design is an essential aspect of my work. I want to create nativity scenes that are not only masterfully crafted, but also have an almost living effect. Every detail should tell the story and create an atmosphere of authenticity.

Meeting with Angela Tripi in Palermo (IT)

Angela Tripi is the creator of dreamlike nativity figures whose creations have already traveled around the world. The artistic Tripi figures, modeled from clay and dressed and covered with fabric, provide a fascinating overview of ancient customs.

Tripi figures are unique pieces.

All Tripi figures are unique pieces, created with a lot of artistic sensitivity, individually modeled by hand from clay and fired at 940°C. Each figure is hand-painted, finished with fabric, beautiful appliqués and additions. These excellent Tripi figures are made in the small family workshop of Angela Tripi and her excellent team.

I usually use Tripi figures in my nativity scenes.

The artist Angela Tripi lives and works in Palermo, Sicily. There I have them 20?? visited and

For me, creating nativity scenes is more than just artistic expression - it is a way to escape from everyday life. When I immerse myself in the world of my art, I forget everything around me. It's as if I immerse myself in a completely separate world in which only the work and I exist. This escape into the art of nativity scene making allows me to give free rein to my creativity and at the same time cultivate a deep connection to a traditional craft.

There is not only craftsmanship in my nativity scenes, but also an emotional connection to this art form. Each piece represents a part of my personality, my attention to detail and my dedication to creating something special. It is my way of bridging the gap between tradition and creativity and creating a unique world that amazes the viewer.
